Do you provide after-sales support?

Quick Answer
Yes. We believe service should continue after purchase. Customers may contact us regarding care, fit questions, or support related to their order.

Yes, after-sales support is a meaningful part of what Tailor Diamonds offers. A ring is not a transaction that ends at delivery. It is the start of a long relationship between the wearer and a piece of jewellery that should look as considered in ten years as it does on the first day. With more than 30 years of diamond industry experience, we understand that fine jewellery is worn through real life, with its exposure to skin chemistry, household activities, travel, and daily handling. Our after-sales service exists to help you care for your piece through all of it, and to resolve any questions or issues that arise along the way.

What after-sales support includes

Tailor Diamonds after-sales support covers several categories of client need. The first is guidance. If you have questions about how to care for your ring, how often to clean it, what to avoid, or how to travel with it safely, you can contact us at any time for clear, honest advice. Our consultants have seen the patterns of wear across thousands of pieces and can tell you what matters and what does not.

The second category is fit support. Rings sometimes need resizing as hands change over time or if the original sizing turned out imperfect. Many designs can be resized within a practical range, and we handle this work professionally either in our own workshop or through trusted partners close to your location. For recently delivered rings, resizing within a reasonable window and range is often complimentary. For longer-term resizing, the service is available at a fair price that reflects the actual work involved.

The third category is inspection and maintenance. Over years of wear, settings gradually loosen microscopically, prong tips wear down, and surfaces accumulate minor scratches. Professional inspection and maintenance restores a ring's integrity and appearance. We recommend this every one to two years for daily-worn pieces, and we can advise on local jewellers if you are far from Hong Kong.

The fourth category is repair. If a stone becomes loose, a prong breaks, or any other structural issue develops, we can assess and repair the piece. If the issue is a manufacturing defect, we address it at no cost. If it is wear-related or damage from external causes, we provide an honest estimate for the repair work.

Care guidance for daily wear

Lab-grown diamonds, like all diamonds, are the hardest natural-equivalent material on earth. They do not scratch easily. They do, however, accumulate oils, lotions, and soaps on their surfaces, which dulls their brilliance over time. Regular cleaning restores the sparkle dramatically and is the single most valuable care habit.

At home, a simple cleaning routine works well. Soak the ring for ten to fifteen minutes in warm water with a small amount of mild dishwashing soap. Brush gently with a soft toothbrush, paying attention to the underside of the diamond where oils collect. Rinse thoroughly in clean water and dry with a soft lint-free cloth. This routine, done monthly, keeps most rings looking freshly made.

Avoid harsh chemicals. Bleach, chlorine, and strong solvents can damage gold alloys and gradually weaken prong settings. Remove your ring before swimming in chlorinated pools, using household cleaners, or applying lotions and perfumes. Taking the ring off before bed is optional but helpful if you want to minimise exposure to skin oils.

For professional cleaning, most jewellers use ultrasonic cleaners, which restore brilliance more thoroughly than home cleaning can. This service is usually inexpensive and takes only minutes. For Tailor Diamonds clients visiting our Hong Kong location, we offer complimentary professional cleaning. For international clients, we recommend taking the ring to a reputable local jeweller every one to two years for ultrasonic cleaning and inspection.

Storing rings safely

When you are not wearing your ring, safe storage prevents damage. Store each piece separately, ideally in a soft pouch or a jewellery box with separate compartments. Diamonds can scratch other diamonds, other gemstones, and metal surfaces, so loose storage of multiple pieces in a single box is a common cause of minor damage. Keep storage locations dry and climate-controlled where possible.

For travel, use a small padded case that fits in your carry-on luggage. Never pack fine jewellery in checked baggage. For extended absences, home safes or bank safe deposit boxes are appropriate for high-value pieces. We are happy to advise on insurance and appraisal, which are separate from our after-sales service but worth considering for any significant piece.

When to seek professional inspection

Beyond routine cleaning, periodic professional inspection is important. Prong settings, which hold centre stones securely, can wear gradually over years of wear. A microscopic bend or wear on a prong tip is difficult to see with the naked eye but can eventually lead to stone loss if ignored. Professional inspection under magnification identifies these issues before they become problems.

For daily-worn engagement rings, inspection every one to two years is prudent. For less frequently worn pieces, every two to three years is typically enough. If you ever feel a stone move when you tap the ring gently against a surface, or if you see a prong that looks unusual, bring the ring in for inspection promptly rather than continuing to wear it.

Repair services we provide

When repair is needed, Tailor Diamonds offers comprehensive services. Common repairs include prong retipping, where worn prong tips are rebuilt to restore security. Loose stone reseating, where a gem that has shifted slightly is reset properly. Shank repair for bands that have bent or warped. Surface polishing to restore original brightness. Complete refurbishment for older pieces that need comprehensive attention.

For Tailor Diamonds pieces with manufacturing issues, repair is free within a reasonable period. For wear-related repair or damage from external causes, we provide transparent pricing that reflects the work involved. We never oversell repair work. If a piece is in good condition and needs only minor attention, we say so. Our thirty plus years of industry experience have taught us that honest assessment builds the trust that turns one-time clients into lifetime ones.

Working with us after your purchase

Reaching us for after-sales support is straightforward. You can contact our team through the same channels that served your original purchase, whether email, messaging apps, phone, or direct visit to our Hong Kong location. We keep detailed records of every custom project, so when you contact us years later, we can access the original design specifications, stone details, and any prior service history.

For international clients, we often coordinate with trusted local jewellers for routine cleaning and minor services, reserving Hong Kong visits or shipping for more substantial work. This makes ongoing care practical regardless of where you live.

A relationship, not a transaction

Many clients return to Tailor Diamonds years after their first purchase for additional pieces, resizing, cleaning, or simply advice on other jewellery decisions. We welcome these continuing relationships, because they are exactly what fine jewellery is meant to support. A ring is a long-term companion, and the specialist who helped you choose it should remain available as long as you want them.

If you have any after-sales question, including care, fit, repair, or simply a follow-up thought, please Contact Us directly.
